Description

Body Scan is the first connected health station of its kind. It introduces groundbreaking technology with segmental body composition, allowing precise tracking of fat and muscle imbalances. It’s also engineered to identify changes in cardiovascular health, offering advanced metrics like 6-Lead ECG, Vascular Age, and standing heart rate.

Developed in collaboration with neurologists, Body Scan helps monitor nerve health to detect early signs of peripheral autonomic neuropathy. This supports earlier interventions and improved long-term outcomes.

Embrace the Withings Scale Experience and integrate better health into daily life. Body Scan features a 12-month battery life, high-resolution colour screen, and automatic tracking for multiple users. Enjoy Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, syncing seamlessly with the Withings app. View trends, monitor progress, and gain daily inspiration with data privacy that meets industry-leading standards.

  • Ultra-precise body composition assessment – Use the integrated handle to analyze segmental fat and muscle mass, visceral fat, and basal metabolic rate.
  • Heart health insights – Get real-time cardiovascular metrics including vascular assessment, standing heart rate, and AFib detection using the 6-lead ECG sensor.
  • Nerve health tracking – Monitor peripheral nerve health long-term to support the detection of diabetes-related complications.
  • High-precision weight measurement – Achieve 50 g accuracy using patented Position Control Technology.
  • Comprehensive app integration – Track all metrics via the Withings app, compatible with iOS, Android, Apple Health, and Google Fit.

Body Scan – Overview & Availability
What is Body Scan?

More than a smart scale, Body Scan is the first connected health station. It bridges the gap between access to breakthrough metrics and integrated support from coaches and health professionals.

When and where will Body Scan be available?

Body Scan is available directly on Withings.com in the EU, UK, and US markets. It is also available in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, India, and the UAE via resellers.

Body Scan – Features & Functionality
Why is there a handle on the scale?

The handle allows the user to get much more accurate body composition measurements. It also enables segmental body composition for which users get fat & muscle mass of each body part: torso, legs and arms. The handle also contains the electrodes needed to record the 6-lead ECGs.

What’s the difference between Body Scan and other Withings smart scales?

Body Scan is our most advanced smart scale to date. With a simple weigh-in, users get access to the largest number of health biomarkers ever seen on a scale.

How does the body composition capability of Body Scan differ from other similar scales?

Unlike classic scales that only measure the lower body, Body Scan uses a handle to transmit a current through the entire body for more accurate segmental body composition. It delivers:

  • Fat and muscle mass metrics for each body part (torso, arms, legs)
  • Full-body composition metrics: fat, muscle, water, and bone mass
Body Scan – Health Metrics
What is Nerve Health Score (NHS)?

Nerve Health Score is an EU-only medically-approved metric that gives an indication of your nervous system’s control of sweat gland activity in your feet to help detect and follow-up peripheral autonomic neuropathies.

What is Electrodermal Activity Score (EDA)?

Electrodermal Activity Score is a US-only wellness metric similar to NHS that gives an indication of your nervous system’s control of sweat gland activity in your feet.

Body Scan – Usage & Setup
How many users can Body Scan support?

Body Scan automatically recognizes and tracks up to 8 users independently.

How long is the battery life?

Body Scan boasts a long-life rechargeable battery that lasts up to 1 year per charge.

How does Body Scan charge?

Body Scan is charged using the included USB-C cable.

Can Body Scan be set up for Bluetooth-only operation?

Yes, it supports BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) for Bluetooth-only setup.

Does Body Scan integrate specific modes for athletes or pregnancy?

Body Scan will soon integrate the athlete and pregnancy modes available on other Withings scales. These features will be available shortly after launch.

What is the weight range for Body Scan?

Body Scan supports weights from 5–200 kg (9–440 lbs) with a 50g graduation.

Is there a maximum or minimum foot size?

There is no maximum or minimum foot size required to use the scale.

Body Scan – Withings+ & Accuracy
Can Body Scan and Withings+ be purchased separately?

Yes, they can be purchased separately. At checkout, you can subscribe to Withings+ or add it later via email offers.

Why do I get inconsistent results with segmental body composition measurement?

Impedance is sensitive to hydration, skin contact, and foot cleanliness. Best practices:

  • Same time daily (ideally morning, empty bladder)
  • Avoid eating/drinking 2 hours prior
  • Clean feet and no skin-to-skin contact

Body Scan measurements require use of the handle.

Why is Body Scan giving different results than other Withings scales or scales without handles?

Two reasons:

  1. Body Scan uses 8 electrodes (hands and feet) for full-body impedance, unlike older scales which only measure lower body.
  2. It uses 3 frequencies up to 250kHz, accurately distinguishing intra- vs extracellular water. Older scales extrapolate water data less accurately.

Trends remain reliable across devices, even if the metrics differ slightly.
